The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Skopje exists as part of the electromechanical department at the Faculty of Technical Sciences from 01.10.1959, then as a part of the independent Electromechanical Faculty from 01.10.1965 and finally as an independent faculty from 01.07.1977. The Faculty is a public establishment, the highest educational institution in the area of mechanical sciences, in which personnel are educated, scientific researchers are realized and scientific and professional knowledge are applied. The Faculty is organized in 6 institutes and 1 department. In every one of them except theoretical, there are also experimental activities in specialized laboratories. The laboratories are organizational units that are part of the institutions with an appropriate personnel, workspace and equipment, where testing/calibration is conducted by exclusive organizational rules, procedures and methods, and are with approval of valid regulative by domestic or international standards, the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025 and the need of the customers.
The Laboratory for testing of mechanical properties, machines and vehicles is an accredited laboratory in the Republic of Macedonia with Accreditation Certificate No. LT- 045. It’s a part of an international network of laboratories in Europe and worldwide. The laboratories are located in the annex of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in the building of the Institute of Mechanical Constructions, Mechanical Machines and Vehicles (MCMMV).
